That was on the news yesterday here, too. Looks like fun. But he didn't forward-slip that thing when he flared...tisk tisk...
But yeah once the wind gets under your wing like that, it's usually too late to recover, especially in a large aircraft like that. Got to love the TOGA (Take-Off/Go-Around) buttons for 100% turbine speed...which we had to use once in a Saab city-hopper when I was right-seating to get my "turbine training and pressurized-cabin signoff" when we got 10 feet off the ground and a strong microburst hit us  .
