Even he said that not everyone agrees with his assesment of 1080i vs 720p. I don't think ones better than the other, the major thing to remember is that you get best result displaying HD in your sets native resolution so if your HDTV is a RP CRT like mine, 1080i will always look better than 720p because all 720p signals are interpolated to 1080i. The same holds true for LCD's and other digital formats, most are 720p (although a lot of newer stuff is 1080p) and they will always look better with 720p signals rather than converted 1080i signals. Up here it seems that half the HD programming is in 1080i and the other half is 720p so on any given channel one looks better than the other. In anycase they all look better than SDTV. I didn't realize the Viewsonic 37" couldn't display 1080i, that makes it pretty much useless since there is still a lot of 1090i programming out there.
