Of course, if you want a real backup, use Acronis True Image. Someone recommended that I use that here and I have ever since. It's gotten me through 3 hard drive upgrades and several support issues for friends of mine. It works like a charm to backup the whole drive, with compression, as an image that can be easily restored. Be sure to make the boot CD too as it's also useful for testing.
There are some linux apps that could be useful as well, and those would work with the System Rescue CD if you added them to that CD image. |
