Welcome miketv! I shouldn't laugh, but that was kinda funny. I think you would be better off just using a vacuum cleaner and maybe a slighty damp cloth to do some cleaning.
The medical air is probably humidified intentionally, as dry lungs can create even bigger medical problems than he might already have.
If you don't have access to a vacuum with a small(er) brush attachment, I'd suggect looking under your landlords couch cushions for change to go get a can of Dust-Off or whatever!!!
