I don't really recommend Gentoo as a first Linux install, it really helps if you're already familiar with Linux (and bash).
As was already said, RH9 is old. It's also bloated and slow. I haven't used Fedora or CentOS, but if you want something that will be up and running in no time and is decently fast, go for Ubuntu.
A friend of mine (ThePMG) actually switched from Gentoo to Ubuntu after using Gentoo for a long time. I personally prefer Gentoo, but for someone that's looking for minimal involvement, Ubuntu is pretty good. _________________ Due to a not-that-interesting turn of events, I am now known as Justin Danger. |
