Hello.

A quick question for the technically minded Smile

I recently purchased a Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro 2 , with a S-ATA and IDE RAID interface.

My Hard disk however is a slightly older barracuda 120GB U-ATA. I installed the componants but can not boot up windows or even enter the RAID setup facility.

The RAID software tells me "no drives detected" yet the BIOS screen detects my primary HDD and CD drives. Sad

What can i do to fix this problem?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Psy-Ace... Welcome.

I am guessing you just want to use a standard IDE connection, and not RAID if you have just the one hard drive. That motherboard has a total of 4 IDE connectors, 2 for RAID only. Make sure you are connected to the correct one, most likely the standard IDE ones up on the right edge of the board.

Unless you get a matched hard drive for your existing one, your only 'RAID' option would be JBOD (if the controller on the motherboard supported it).

Not to mention you'll get no performance gain from running in JBOD.
