So has anyone ever had a bad experience buying something online from like E-bay, a forum, etc? Not a online store but directly from a person.
Just asking because I've had my 1st one, we bought some posters from a seller on e-bay and looks like he stiffed us. First problem in over 7 years of buying this way. O'well... only $27 and I'll either get the item or PayPal will reimburse me (supposedly).
Figured I'd check and see if anyone else has had any problems.

I've bought a few things on eBay and I've never really had a bad transaction with anyone thus far. The only problem I've had was when I bought a Foundry ServerIron switch with a F2GE (2x fiber gigabit ethernet ports) module installed. Once I got the fiber cables from another eBay sale, it didn't work. I contacted the seller because they said all was functioning in the auction. They in turn contacted the original owner. They said it was fine, bit it still didn't work. I ended up just buying a newer model of the module and it all worked fine. Cost an extra $400 but was worth it, since the switch new would have been around $12,000 as configured. _________________ 5 home-built PCs, ASUS A6Jc Laptop, and a PowerEdge 2650 - all running Gentoo. I've bought from eBay several times without a problem. At least not on the sellers part. One time I ordered the wrong size rocker patch ... my fault |

only once from a very reuptable company. They rebuild car parts. My gauges went out in my Audi factory repair is around 1200 this company does it for 250 but you have to mail the part to them (car doesnt run without this part). They say it takes 2 weeks to get it back to my door... It took 5 and the best part is that not only was I without my car for that time, they sent the part back bad yet! Tried to fight through paypal but they told me to mail the part back to have them "fix" it again. I denied that because I couldn't be without my car for another friggen month so I'm just out the money... Only negative experience I've ever had _________________

Only negative experience I had was back when I first started building my own pc's and buying parts through forums. Bought a Geforce2 MX video card...when I got it, didn't work. Guy kept telling me it worked when he shipped and that I messed it up. Basically brought it up in a forum (without mentioning any names) and he quickly jumped into the discussion saying I was full of crap. Needless to say I think some mods got involved and he ended up refunding my money and I was just out the shipping to send it back. Thats been my only somewhat negative experience, other than that its been all positive. _________________
