Quote:
"It is a very linear game but if anything, compared to Oblivion, this linearity seems like FFVII’s core strength... Strangely, FFVII’s linearity means it coheres brilliantly. It all adds up. All the freedom technology affords a game like Oblivion makes it difficult – perhaps impossible – for the game to hang together. I liked Oblivion, I really did – but I liked it in moments; a cool fight here, a journey across a gorgeous mountain pass there – but the open-ended design means it just doesn’t gel."

Hmmm... a weird comparison, to say the least. But, I've yet to play Oblivion, so I can't really say... Razz

FFVII wasn't very linear by comparison to many games. The story is for the most part set in stone but for a game that supports over 300 hours of quality play, featuring a dynamic plot would increase the production time, creation difficulty, and overall size of the game drastically. Imagine the cost let alone having to switch to disk 20. The game might as well be a standalone system. FFVII at least had a world map you could walk around, try playing FFX, the worst of the FF series, save maybe Mystic Quest.

Where can I get the game? (desirable for free, but if not, that is normal too)
