I finally decided I wanted a faster PC, and since it's almost impossible to upgrade my current one without a huge overhaul. I went a purchased some parts for an intel system, my first Intel build so far. How's this for a parts list?
Like I said, I've never built an Intel system, I discussed some of the parts with a friend who just built one with that mobo/processor and he couldn't be happier. I was tempted to go with an Nvidia chipset for SLI further down the road, but I didn't want to spent $200+ on a motherboard, when this one had quite a bit of features. _________________ Nothing says good job like a firm open palmed slap on the behind.

Water cooling used to be good in my opinion, but air cooling has gotten so much better in the past couple years that water is hardly worth the effort and maintenance. I also chose a 1333MHz fsb dual core over a quad core, and I am happy with the move!

I've had water cooling in the past, it's nice once it's setup. But setup isn't very fun, and I had mine spring a leak after a week. I'm just glad I used Fluid XP and it was at the reservoir and not the water block. I'll stick with air. As for quad core or dual core, I probably won't even fully utilize two, no reason to spend the money on four. By the time I need four(or more) it'll be time for a new PC again. _________________ Nothing says good job like a firm open palmed slap on the behind.

Nice rig Shadow. Very good choices across the board. In terms of bang for the buck, the e6750 is a great value and will be more than sufficient for most uses, gaming included. I think a single 8800gtx will keep you happy for quite sometime and the ip35 Pro is a good motherboard. _________________

Yeah I figured the 8800GTX would last awhile, my current rig still has a 6800GT which will still play almost anything, just starts to show it's age with low fps on the newer things. _________________ Nothing says good job like a firm open palmed slap on the behind.

I'd have gone with an 8800GT (half the price, most of the performance) since I can't see paying $500 for a card that's going to be replaced in a few weeks. If you bought an eVGA card, then nevermind...you can use step-up _________________

I was actually planning to pick up the GT, but everywhere it was sold out, so I picked this one because when all the parts get here, I'd kill me not to be able to turn it on. _________________ Nothing says good job like a firm open palmed slap on the behind.

I've got the system up and running. Runs like a champ so far. I ran CPU burn-in for a few hours, no problems. Going to run it while I sleep all night, to make sure all's good. Then in a week or so try and see what I can do for an OC. _________________ Nothing says good job like a firm open palmed slap on the behind.
