So I was toying with the idea of running an IDE flash module aka mini solid state drive as some are calling it. Up until yesterday I had no idea that this even existed but it would work out great in my rig due to the placement of the IDE header (right beside the memory slots) and I'm always game for more storage and something to tinker with.
The random access times from what I have seen are awesome but transfer times are average, sometimes barely beating an old IDE drive.
Does anybody have any information or thoughts on them? What they may be useful for? Running as a gaming hard drive perhaps?

I remember them from when SSD was 'new'... seemed very cool, but slow. I think they were mostly for industrial applications, and specifically for mini-systems. That's where I wanted one - in a super-compact Mini-ITX system I had in my car.

SSD's are still out of my price range so I was thinking that maybe a 16GB would give a bit of gaming performance boost above and beyond what my Caviar Black can do.
I guess I'll have to keep waiting. _________________ Gigabyte H55M-USB3/Intel i3 530/CoolIT Vantage 240 A.L.C./G.Skill Eco DDR3 1600
