I'm working with Todd Youngblood, the nephew of the man credited with inventing the water bed in the 1960s. Todd is the inventor of the ChiliPad: http://www.chilitechnology.com - a sophisticated yet simple mattress pad that can cool or warm a bed from 48 through 118 degrees. The temperature is regulated by water flowing through silicone tubes embedded about an inch below the surface. Semiconductor chips heat or cool the water to a selected point within the temperature range, which can be set to change with a built-in timer. No wires or other electrical elements are embedded in the mattress. The ChiliPad is a great way to end nighttime arguments about the temperature of the bedroom - there is even a "dual zone" model where each side of the bed can be set to different temperatures. |
