I am getting a list of parts that I would like in order to make my own computer. I have never made my own and thought It would be a great expierence (Im interested in IT as a profession). So far I have everything I would like to buy... execpt the case. I want to make sure I can get a case big enough for the parts I want. Because of the place I am putting the computer i believe it needs to be a Mid Tower.
(Posting parts that take up a large ammount of space)
I used a Thermaltake Element G case for my recent build. It has a top fan controller knob which lets you adjust the fan speeds as well as choose one of four LED colors or none.
If you use a large cpu cooler you may need to remove the top fan though..I did.
I still really like the CoolerMaster HAF, a new version was just announced at Cebit, the HAF X. Looks really nice If your space allows for it anyways LOL
You can definitely go with a smaller PSU. I have a similar setup, except with an ATI Radeon HD4850X2 (still running great), and it runs great on a 650 watt PSU.
As for cases, the previously mentioned ones are solid choices. I've been pleased with the CM Sniper so far, which is a midtower variation of the HAF.
More money than brains = That insane giant Zalman case that costs $1000. I think if you go to newegg and arrange the cases by cost it's the highest one there.
