Major game companies don't hesitate to charge an arm and a leg for new releases, with most launching around $60 these days. As much as you enjoy lining up outside the local GameStop at 3AM to embrace the latest shooter, parting with 60 big ones hurts a little inside. I think the best freeware game on that list is Doom, it's such a classic and still fun today.

Command & Conquer is a classic indeed but why isn't Warcraft 2 on the list?

I just saw an atari 2600 system today on sale for $29.99. lol

I think a lot of the old Sierra games are now free as well, I know Betrayal at Krondor is (I can't seem to make it run on my PC, I probably need a DOS emulator or something to slow down the computer)
