I finally made it out of town for a little recreation. Brought the family up to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada... aka Gold Country!!
So I packed the laptop, grabbed a list of ISP phone numbers for Jackson CA., tossed the kids and wife in the Excursion, gave the dog a high five and out we went.
We went into the Black Chazm Cavern this afternoon, 95 feet into the depths of the earth. Very cool!! (not even going to try and upload pics with this 24.5K connection on the 'ol 266Mhz lappy). Check it out here... http://www.caverntours.com/BlackRt.htm

I live in Oakley. Little bodunker between Brentwood and Antioch. I'm really only 80 or so miles from home, but because I didnt sleep at home, I can call this a vacation.
We went by the Jackson Rancheria Hotel and casino yesterday... was so packed people were parking almost a 1/2 mile away. Drove right on by not even slowing down. I don't do crowds very well, might find myself killen a few people. We may try again early this morning.
BTW If anyone ever finds themselves in this area, stay at the Amador Best Western, highly recommended.
We are going spelunking again today and maybe even hit the Sutter Creek Gold Mine if time allows, I'll get a nugget for everyone!!!

Yea, those Indian casino's are bad for pay out. I'll take the time to go all the way up the hill and hit Tahoe or Reno (Tahoe is perfered... just cause i don't gamble all that much and Tahoe is WAY prettier).

These things growing out of the rock are only found in this cave, nowhere else in the world, the tubes are hollow and minerals are delivered to the tip through the hollow tube.

The Sutter Creek Gold Mine: This is one of the major veins, they core sample for these Quartz veins and then mine the vien. The Quartz is what holds the gold!!!
