Bring it to a crematorium and put it in the furnace. If that furnace can reduce a person to ashes let's see what it will do to this hard drive.

If it anyone can destroy a theoretically waterproof system it would be a toddler.

Drop it in the path of the California Wildfires that happen annually. Maybe in a house that is in the path or something to show how it can protect your drive in those kind of dire circumstances...

Or roast the device, then use a hose to cool it off like what would happen in a house fire when the firemen put out the fire with water.

I like the Jet engine idea. The ioSafe Solo is said to with stand up to 1550 degrees f and a jet engine can get around 2000 degrees f, not to mention it would be cool to see.

I wonder if it would stand up to the flame from a propane torch. The kind you use for soldering copper water pipes.

Create a test setup of a workstation. So a wooden floor, a carpet, a desk, a 386dx computer, and an old 8 inch trinitron screen (preferably macintosh). Now the next part is VERY important and crucial to this experiment. You must place a figurine of Chuck Norris on the desk.

Now use a flameflower to set the entire test site on fire. Have the fire department put the fire out (or just use buckets of water followed by a fire extinguisher if on a budget).

Recover the ioSafe and remove it's hardrive.

The harddrive should survive, but if my calculations are correct you should find a figurine of Chuck Norris inside the ioSafe enclosure as well.

Alternative Test:

ioSafe External Harddrive VS Chuck Norris (Figurine)

Put them side by side and flood them. They should both survive.

Use a flamethrower to torch them side by side. Only one should survive.

Open the ioSafe and recover a working harddrive. Plug it in to find that the pictures you had saved on the harddrive are still there, but Chuck Norris has mysteriously appeared in each picture as well.
