Yes that is correct a 1,224-pound cupcake, vanilla with pink frosting to be exact was on display in Royal Oak, Mich. Now before people start using this as another reason to despise us "wasteful Americans" this one was also for a good cause. Pieces of this Guinness world record holder were served in exchange for donations to be used for the fight against breast cancer. Besides what else could the 800 eggs and 200 pounds each of sugar and flour have been used for?

I have issues with any event that's supposed to garner money for breast cancer fund raising. Mind you, it's not because I think that the cause is bad (I'm all for saving the boobs), but I think that the charities and organizations in charge of these fund raisers aren't handling the money received correctly or distributing it efficiently. I have to wonder how much of the money that's donated actually reaches a researcher or cancer victim out of any of these events? How much of any single dollar that's given is distributed where the original donation was intended?

For this reason alone, I don't give any money to any of these organizations.

There is published information available on that sort of thing for all legit charities. I don't have the link, but I know I provided it when I was doing that charity yard sale last year... The site gives all the details on the charity, including the percentage of funds that go to administration, salary, etc... And what makes it to patients and research.

You should look up charities of interest and find a good one to donate to!

I was eaten (not sure how much of it was) but they did cut it up and sell portions for donations.
