It is free (for home use)anti-virus software and is quite good. I've been using it for a month now and it is just as good as Norton or McAfee. All the bells and whistles as well.

Cool... I was actually looking for a free item like this the other day!! I have McAfee on my main system, but wanted something 'indepedent' to use on other machines. Right now, I am using Trend Micro House Call on this machine, but it isn't an active virus scan, just scans through the browser when you say to!!

I am going to try this... Only thing I don't like is the .cz domain... I'm always suspicious of non .com/.net and other standard extensions...

AVG is free and does a killer job, finds stuff Norton misses. It's on everything I build now. They just want you to register and then a free key is in your mailbox.

my only problem with AVG free version is the updates take quite a long time.... ah... all virus scanners can be a big pain in the butt!

AVG! And the updates don't take a long time for me, some are less than 100KB...

yes, its not the size of the files that bothers me, its downloading at 1.4KB/s off those free update servers.

I've always used Norton System Works.

However.....with v.2004, they have seen fit to incorporate their version of (MS) activation and (E.T.) phone home capabilities.........So, I believe that when I upgrade, I'll be looking for another option.

Besides...there are other (equally capable) utility/maintenance programs out there.

I get 10KB/s when I update over ISDN......

Anyway, the update servers are slow most of the time, and when they are I just get the file by going to the site.

I installed the AVG just now and did an update just after... blazing fast. I like this app!!
