So - in the middle of the night my phone starts chirping with texts about the server being down, then up, then down, etc... I ignore them and turn the phone off since I am sleepy and assume they were false alarms. Apparently the switch at the server provider was rebooting every few minutes, explaining all my texts, and then later it just died. Ooof. Back up now on a new switch... Hope it stays!

So - this new server provider (been there the past 4 months I guess) is now about to be the old server provider.

Not sure what tonight's issue was yet, but the same switch has been failing for about the past 5 weeks. Goes down, comes up, goes dead... A week later it happens again. Am I stupid to think someone might just replace the POS? I honestly hope I don't hear it was a switch for today's 6-1/2 hour outage.

Time to hunt down a new provider... May move the site back to Jersey again.

Yeah, downtime in peak hours is not a good thing.

All the other outages were switch related, and I am guessing this wasn't... I could log in after the previous (smaller) issues and see the server had never actually gone down (showing 30-40 days uptime)... This time the server was freshly booted when it came back.

First time they offered something tangible for the issues... free month. I'll take it, that way it gives me time to shop for a new home for free (contract expires on the 13th, so I'd only have a week).

Wait..........You mean this site isn't running off an old 486 stuffed in your closet? GrinGrin

I keep getting the following error everytime I post. Posts seem to make it alright, just not returning to the page after.

GENERAL ERROR
Could not connect to smtp host : 0 : php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known

DEBUG MODE

Line : 112
File : smtp.php

Too bad it isn't a 486 in your closet, you could just go in there and kick it. Grin

message_die() was called multiple times. This isn't supposed to happen. Was message_die() used in page_tail.php?

There is no good reason these errors should have started now, but I am trying things. Let me know if you still see them. Thanks!

Yes it is... it totally depends on what they are defining as "Up time"... the server, the network, the coffee maker in the break room, etc...
