I don't think he would need a 1Kw+ psu, so how can I sit here and justify spending $100 more...just because? that's why I didn't suggest one.

if for what ever reason the OP is willing to spend the extra cash, here are a few good ones...

CORSAIR CMPSU-1000HX 1000W

SILVERSTONE ST1200 1200W

BFG Tech EX-1200 BFGR1200WEXPSU 1200W

But I don't think he would need anything over the 850tx unless he wants to get another 4850/4850x2 and xfire them.

Edit: hes only going to be using about 420w with that setup so give 30% for OCing and cool and quiet operation that's only 546w so 750tx or the better buy IMO 850tx is more than enough for the single 4850 x2. |

I was trying to avoid linking to that other forum but these two threads were the best examples I could find:

Also, if you read the newegg reviews, roughly 1/5th mention a DOA unit. I had been planning to purchase a PSU in the 750 watt range, a 37"+ LCD, and a dual GPU graphics card and I almost pulled the trigger on the PC PnC 750. I had even considered paying a few dollars extra for a non red unit, but ultimately decided to hold off after what I had read. I also remembered a lot of people having problems with their RMAs because the UPCs had been cut off for the rebate, and on a semi unrelated note, OCZ (who has owned PC PnC for the last two years) has a really bad reputation for not honoring rebates. I am not saying I would never ever purchase a PC PnC power supply, just not that one in particular. _________________ ■ Silverstone SG02-F ■ AMD X2 7750 @ 3.2GHz ■ Biostar TA790GX XE µATX ■ Coolermaster GeminII S ■ 2x 2GB G.Skill DDR2 1066 ■ Galaxy 8800GT 512MB ■ Corsair HX520 ■ 2x 250GB Western Digital SE16 ■ |
