I would like to know how the performance of 4 GB of 800Mhz RAM will be. Will I get any benefit from getting higher memory speed like DDR2 1333 OR DDR3 1600 for normal computer usage. I am not a overclocker.

if your not into gaming lets say you just want to do typing jobs, net surfing, watch movies
ddr2 at 666Mhz is fine and also 1gig of ram is also fine Wave

if you are not a an overclocker having fsater ram won't be too much benefit.

with vista's ability to "superfetch" if you have more ram, apps will tend to start a bit faster.

Im not too sure if more is always better, so far im running good with 4GB. Increasing my mems to 8GB may or may not be helpful for me, but at least if my rig crashes, its a good thing that anonemus is just here in my city to rescue noobies like me...

What's weird is I see people with only 2GB of ram on very high performance gaming systems.

Because they spent a fortune back then when they bought them?

I think, most people don't need 8GB of ram but it can boost the performance in a nice way.

That's right! I thought we already agreed that 4GB-6GB is the sweet spot for a high-end PC, which is used mainly for gaming, while one who uses a lot of Video Editing, might need 8GB or even 12GB of RAM. Wink
