this is what I have a

intel E6550 stock 2.33 overclocked to 3.40 on air and stable
2GB avant ram
500GB western digital
20x pionner cd drive
GB P35 motherboard
Geforce 7600GT
HP 42" PLASMA max res " 1024x768" with DVI "from the card" to VGA "on my tv"

my problem is i can only play crisis on low levels ...It runs fast on low levels "about 33-38 fps" and that plays great but when i put on medium it drops to 15 to 18 fps and on high i only get about 10 fps! and as im sure you guys know medium and high levels at that low of FPS sucks Mad !! I just recently got into gaming and need advice on what card i need for my pcs specs to play crisis and other high end games....... Im looking to spend around 100-150$$$ ??? I want to be able to play at HIGH levels and have smooth scrolling interface " if that is at all possible with my pc and my price" ?? ANY info you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

With that price range, I would think a 512MB Radeon HD4850 or 512MB NVIDIA 9800 GT might be the closest fit. Won't be the best, but will be much better than what you want and will be within your budget. If you get a good deal, and maybe can handle rebates, you could probably get a 1GB 9800 GTX for under $150, too.

Sell some plasma and get a better card.

At a resolution of 1024x768 you're not going to need more that 512mb of gpu memory (you would probably even be ok with 256mb), but if you can get a deal on a 1GB card it will help with 1080p (1920x1080) resolutions if you ever decide to upgrade your display/tv.

Jason nailed it with his suggestions. Both are near the upper end of your price range, but you will see a huge improvement in performance over your current card.

I would say one of these 3 would probably be your best choice. Crysis isn't gentle on video cards.

I was wondering... Does your TV offer higher resolutions? It has DVI connections, but is capped at 1024x786?

This might be a good one, too. Out of the range initially, but with a $20 rebate and free shipping it is back in there... EVGA 9800 GTX+ Super Clocked

I thought the resolution seemed a bit low myself and did a little research, the only HP 42" plasma I could fine was THIS ONE and it is indeed a 1024x768 panel with HDMI and VGA input, but no DVI.

Here's some tips for crysis that you might help, they have a memory usage chart near the bottom that applies to DX9 mode, but for DX10 it appears the more GPU memory the better.

I would say get a 9800GT which can handle Crysis at that budget.

A 9800GT or HD4850 will do just fine.
