New comp being built

Like others here, I've began building a new comp, so far I have already ordered http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813186148

Now, Im looking at video cards, my question is which one should I go for

I really want a EVGA vid card, because of their "Step-Up" program, would it be worth it if I went with this program instead of buying just any vid card?

Also I would like opinion's on the processor, and motherboard I have chosen...thanks

P.S. I also have 500W PSU that should be good enough correct??

keep in mind that "Step Up" is only good for 90 days, so if EVGA doesn't offer anything new, it's kind of a waste.

Now if you're going to buy their cards because they offer excellent customer service, that would be a better reason

P.S. Will have a 500W PSU, but will eventually upgrade to 600-650.

For about the same price you could get an AMD 9950 Quad Core CPU and comparable motherboard.

I have the 9950 and I hit 3Ghz on the stock HSF with out even trying.

Looks like some nice choices for a gaming rig. BC is right, you could get an AMD quad for about the same price or possibly even slightly less, but the particular Wolfdale you chose is known to frequently hit 4.0Ghz Wink

and right now dual core cpu's and higher Mhz are the ticket for gaming. Although we are beginning to see more and more games taking advantage of quad core cpu's.

Thanks for your input guys, I'm also guessing that my 500 wAtt psu will be good and my ram is compatible with my mobo

Not all PSU's are created equally, but if it's at least of mid level quality it should be fine. The ram you listed is DDR2-800 (PC2-6400) which will work, your board appears to support DDR2-1066 (PC2-8500) should you feel the need to buy faster memory, but the DDR2-800 will work fine unless you plan to seriously overclock. In which case the faster ram, a better heat sink and PSU would be recommended.

You shouldn't need to OC though, that system stock is plenty fast for most every game except perhaps crysis on some freaky high resolution and/or detail level.

Ok thanks man for your input. But I have one more question about RAM, I know DDR2 1066 is better then DDR2 800, but could someone explain why before I purchase my memory (want to purchase by today), and also another question is, can I get 2 different brands of RAM as long as their both DDR2 800 or DDR2 1066? Thanks.
