I just did an upgrade for my Dad today... Basically just kept his ECS K7S5A Pro board and XP Pro, and swapped the following...

Now has a 128MB Radeon 9200SE (had a 3dfx Voodoo3 3000 16MB)
Now has 512MB Crucial PC2100 (had 512MB OCZ PC-133)
Now has a 40GB WD ATA-133 HDD with 8MB cache (had a 17GB Maxtor ATA-66)
Now has a XP2200+ (had a XP1600+)
Now has a 52x32x52 LiteON burner (had a 2x2x6 BTC burner)
Now has a 16X LiteOn DVD ROM (had a 32x CDROM)

Nice upgrade, pretty sweet machine now... But, I realize he may now have a better video card than me, which isn't too hard considering I have a 64MB GeForce4 MX440 and a 64MB GeForce2 Ti... Damn!! I need an upgrade in that department... Laughing

$286 is a little past my buget, I think ill have to settle for a 9600pro(it will kick the crap out of my 7000 pci) Smile

Go for the 9600 Pro if the XT is too much. I got my hands on one a little while ago and love it. So far it plays every game I have silky smooth with all the eye candy turned up and high resolution. It will be a huge upgrade over your current card

$286??? That's the price of a 9800 Pro, not a 9600 XT. 9600 XT's are all below $200.

I was using a Radeon 7000AGP for a little while until I bumped up to a Ti4400 (RIP) and I couldn't believe the difference. No offense, but the 7000 sucks :p
