Maintaining the GPU and SMP beta clients requires frequent monitoring (clients expire regularly and need to be updated), which probably also contributes to their higher point values.

So to sum it up....we (cpu&gpu folders) work more....and the only logical conclusion is that we also earn more points. Grin Wink

And yes, I know about issues with beta clients. Several times I had problems with them locking up in the middle of work or finishing but no points awarded. Mad

But still....900ppd for PS3....dont know for others...but it doesnt seem much to me. (but if its really that much simpler and easier to maintain...then well...i wont argue). Grin

Regarding cpu+gpu folding...yes it's true that you get around 1500ppd from gpu....and around 2500-3000ppd from cpu....assuming that they both fold nonstop at 100% load. And it doesnt make any real difference in terms of cpu usage either you fold on cpu alone or at both. It does use one cpu core for gpu...but from my observations...i learned that you "only" lose some 3 mins per frame at cpu folding if you fold on both (8mins for cpu only folding, and 11mins when both clients run at same time). Roughly 40% more time at cpu folding. So if you fold 40% more at cpu's side that way...that means 15hrs+6hrs=21hrs for one finished cpu WU, worth 1760points atm + 3hrs of next WU in same day - around 250points +1500 from gpu = 3510 ppd. And if you fold on cpu alone...that would be 15hrs for 1760points + 1056 for 9 hours of next WU = 2816 ppd.

As you can see....cpu+gpu folding gives you around 700 points per day more than cpu folding alone. Grin

My conclusion....let everyone do their math and see what works best for them. Laughing Wink

Happy folding. Wave

Congratulations for 2nd place mrweasel. Wink

But consider this as a slight warm up, because now the real LONGGGGGGGGGGGG race for 1st place starts..and you better get another 10 Quad cores if you wanna get there before 2020. Grin Grin

Finally...Great job all BB folders, because its not about being 1st or 2nd...but about whether you're willing to help or not, with the equipment/computer you have - even if it's not the latest state-of-the-art machine. Smile Wave

Yeah, the Opteron is the only thing keeping me going... It goes 24/7, while my main rig (which is now the E2180) Folds when idle. I have a few other systems I need to configure, since there are two D840s, an E6850, and a 5400+ X2 just hanging out here.

My diskless folder stopped yesterday... I think the power may have gone out. Noticed before bed and turned it back on, and even though the data is accessible across the network, it didn't do any folding all night long. Grrr... looks like I have to reinstall the video card and keyboard to see what the deal is.

Has there been any more recent releases to the diskless application?
