I've always wanted to get in to this. I had one of those airplanes that to control with a string that flys around you in circles but never had a real one.
Check this out.
This model B-29 Stratofortress w/X-1 is powered by four chainsaw motors.You can just imagine how much time, effort, skill and money these guys have put into this thing.

I work with a manager who designs and flies RC planes, jets, etc. Fun to watch but I'm not coordinated enough to fly one....

Too bad the X1 couldn't reach the speed of sound, or whatever the scale version of it would be.
Still pretty cool though.
