It was the cooler. OCZ Vendetta just wasn't squeezing hard enough to make good contact. I tried reseating it twice and it didn't get any better. Now the push pins are a bit bent. 
On the stock hsf for now... A little cooler, and alot quieter. |

Time to find a better cooler .............. But at least now you know what the problem is.
