Thought this was pretty cool...
I was just on the Weather Channel (which uses MS Virtual Earth for its maps) and zoomed in on a satellite image of my house. I always assumed the data would be the same or similar to what was on Google Maps, but just noticed my neighbors yard has their new pool in the picture... Which they just put in last summer. So, since the scene looks to be from early fall due to the leaves, the Microsoft image is somewhere between 2 and 14 months old, and the image currently on Google Maps is at least 4 years old, since it was taken before I bought the house.
Do you have the same image at http://maps.live.com/ as at http://maps.google.com/ ? If not, which is newer? |

Yeah - that seems to be a common problem with my house. All map software and GPSes show my address to be about 150 feet down the road.
I just saw the "birds eye" feature on Live Maps, too... Very cool. Didn't work on my neighborhood, but saw my Parent's house from an angle as if a low flying plane took the shot from maybe a few hundred yards away. |

Yea, Google's is the oldest.. I think it's about 5 - 7 yrs old. At least in my area. Yahoo's is about 3 - 4, and it looks like Live maybe 1 yr.

Both show our address in the wrong place plus the street name is spelled incorrectly. There is no "s" at the end of Oak The Live is also the most recent. The big blue blob in the front yard is a car trailer loaded with the extra siding (covered with a tarp) that we just had put on our house about a year and a half ago. Also more of our property has been cleared out behind the house since then and the old little shed is gone
