When we catch illegals - we should send them overseas and replace our soldiers one-for-one in whatever country we happen to be attacking/governing. ...if the soldiers survive a 6-8 year tour - they can have citizenship. Taxing their salaries the entire time.. Serving the country should be proof enough of their loyalty. Those who refuse to get shipped abroad in service of the USA get shipped out to the middle of the closest ocean and made to walk the plank. If they survive the swim back - they too can have citizenship.
With our troops back in the states - they can be stationed at the boarders with orders to shoot to kill any that cant prove US citizenship or prove legitimate business as the come across the lines.
Any politician trying to ease entry requirements can join the illegals on the battlefield or ocean.

I just thought of something else too.
We need live target holders at the shooting ranges.
And since this area is seriously lacking good Mexican restaurants - a complete pardon for a few to start some good places to eat. ....those faking good cooking skills would join the soldiers, but with self detonating weapons after the magazine is empty.
Good commentary; I still believe overwhelming armed response will achieve more. Having to pick your way through rotting corpses as you cross the border would be a powerful psychological deterrent. _________________
