So I just got promoted at work to a sysadmin!!
I'm really psyched for this, once I get out of college I plan on going into systems administration. The fact that I'm a sysadmin for Western Michigan University now (and will be for the next 2.5 years as well) is going to look awesome on my resume. woooo..so pumped right now, had to share with everyone.
plus there's a nice pay-increase too _________________ ABAP? What did you call me? |

^^ above is very true.. Some folks like me have NO educational training, solely doing what we know from starting out the hard way.
I've been engineering since 1989, two years before I graduated high school. When I interviewed with Verizon this past summer they passed over 2 guys with college degrees with only a year or two experience and 1 guy that only had 10-12 years experience to have me that has 18 years experience+one summer of being a lineman(@ 16yo 1988).
Do a good job, the work experience you get now will be the body of the cake, with your degree being the icing for any future employer. |
