So I got an e-mail today forwarded from my Director. It seems my old manager, and fellow Marine, died about 10 days ago.

He was 51/52 had 2 small kids (3 & 1) and had recently moved to Denmark with his family (his wife is Danish). He was running a 5K run with some co-workers and just dropped dead, literally right in front of the biggest hospital in Denmark and there was nothing anyone could do.

I'm totally shocked, because in his early 50's he was in as good or better shape than I was in my early 20's!!

I guess the reason I'm posting this is to remind everyone how short life can be. Don't take things for granted, and never forget tell those you love that you love them as it might be the last time you see them or they see you.

Yea, it can happen at any age, regardless of health. I had a teach in HS that would run to/from school (15-20 miles), and run at lunch. Perfectly fit, never a health issue. Went for a run at lunch one time, and dropped before he even got a mile in...

This is the reason that I never go to bed angry at my wife or son. Never know if you won't wake up...

I'm sorry babe. Sad It's so weird to think someone in such great shape, who ran a ton, would drop from a 5K.

Good rule to follow... I should do the same.

Sorry to hear about it EC, the world definitely isn't fair with that kind of stuff.

sorry to hear that.

Let's think about this for a minute. EC's buddy dies running, HF's teacher dies running....apparently excessive exercise is bad.

I've been saying that for years.. The only people I've seen hit by city buses were joggers.

I always said... I'm not going to be in the hospital dying of nothing. The Doc's will know full well what killed me (likely Misty.... but that's another story). Grin
