So I have a server that is going belly up (it's running on an AMD Athlon 1800+ under W2k if that gives you an idea on how long it's been running) so I have to replace it. It does our family e-mail, web, etc.
Went to NE and bought 2GB of DDR2-800, a AMD X2-4000+, 2x250GB SATA drives, and a motherboard. Price with shipping, $372.28
Almost temping to replace my system with the server system. |

Gotta love it.
AMD x2 prices are incredible right now. DDR2 prices aren't too bad either. _________________

That's what kids are for.........................give them your old system, call it an upgrade and buy yourself a new system.
Problem is, my wife has gotten wise to my ways. You can only upgrade the kids computers so many times before she figures it out.......................... Lucky for me, she knows I'm a geek at heart ( I think the tip off was the 5 computer folding farm I built a few years back )and usually lets me indulge my vices. This only works if I do things like renovate bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchens (next on the list........... ) _________________

If I didn't have a wife and kids I sure as he11 wouldn't be spending my $$$ on a computer! Don't blame you a bit for hesitating. _________________

I just ran a price check on the last pair of DDR modules I have in the house... Was going to trade them, but I think I need to sell! Could make a car payment with the cash...
