You have an LGA775 motherboard for that chip and not trying to replace your current P4 chip, I hope _________________ 5 home-built PCs, ASUS A6Jc Laptop, and a PowerEdge 2650 - all running Gentoo. Now if only I can get a car and plane to run it. Take a look at my Gallery! |

Not only will you be pleased with the speed of your new e6700, your electric bill will probably go down significantly as well. Of course if you depended on your P4 3.0Ghz to help heat the house, it may actually go up a bit because you will need to find an alternate source of heat.
It should last you a year at least, probably closer to 2yrs. Assuming you have upgraded the rest of the hardware as well.
These days though, gpu's seem to be the most expensive part of a computer. Especially now that Intel is aggressively cutting prices. The e6750 will be $185 in a couple weeks, so if you haven't purchased the e6700 yet you might want to wait a bit and see if the e6700 prices come down as well. AMD x2 4000's are like $75 right now! Crazy! but you gotta love it. _________________
