I need to reply to each separately, too. I do have forwards in place to at least keep some of the various other email accounts sending to my main accounts.

And EC, what webmail you using? Horde?

Yeah - I have 5 accounts, and it is great being able to check them all on one screen. And even better to take a message received at one account and to respond from another with ease. I shift people from personal to business accounts to better keep track of what is going on.

One question... Thunderbird insists on all replies being started after the original message text... Is there a setting where I can tell it to set things up so my responses go before the original text automatically?

Yes there is. Go to the Account Settings menu. Under each account, there is a Composition & Addressing submenu. In there (for each account), change the drop-down to "start my reply above the quote."

It took me forever to figure that out, too.

I love Thunderbird, but currently use Outlook for the calendar and better address book. I will likely switch back to thunderbird when they improve the calendaring in the next version. Outlook has some bugs and quirks, but does have some nice features too. It is painfully slow compared to Thunderbird.

I used Thunderbird too, when it finally became stable not so long ago (about a year?). I don't think it's crashed since then, at least I haven't been able to put the blame on it.

Don't forget that Thunderbird has free plugins too, some of them pretty nice. It's not perfect, but what it does it does well.

For calendars & contacts, I use Palm Desktop, even though I hardly ever use my Palm Tungsten T anymore. I've got everything in there so why look for anything else? Also I'm pretty sure that's free software too.

I might start using the equivalent software on Ubuntu if it works just as well.
