My thoughts,
I would get a board that at least had the option of SLI and a DVD+- RW drive whether you think you need it or not. they're not a lot more than the DVD-Rom drive and are worth the extra $$. The board you spec'd is a mATX, but since your case is an ATX case, you should be able to find an SLI capable mobo in the ATX form factor.

everything else will probably work fine though.

Are you dead set on an AMD cpu?

If not, something like this would be pretty nice.

Changed the mobo, cpu and DVD drive, everything else is the same. If you wanted to save a little more $$$ you could go with an e6300 or e6400 cpu and a gforce 7900 gs. Neither of which would be too bad a down grade, but the system I linked to is quite nice and comes in just under $1500.

Mobo - Asus P5B Deluxe
CPU - Core2Duo E6600
DVD+-RW - LG 16x GSA-H10N

Everything else is the same. Total was $1477
