Does anyone have a working linux distro working with bios raid?
Any distro that has the driver to install AND boot from nvraid I would be interested in some suggestions.

I might be good with a decent howto on installing and booting to a raid array if anyone has a link.

So far ubuntu, suse, mandriva don't work. I've read gentoo is good for nvraid but just haven't gotten to try that yet.

I might look at trying that over the weekend when I have a few hours to focus on the install.

Code:
Testing dmraid

To verify that dmraid will work with your configuration, check the contents of the /dev/mapper directory.

ls /dev/mapper

If there is just a "control" file, then dmraid was either not loaded, or dmraid will not work with your configuration. Either way, you can stop here as the rest of this guide assumes that dmraid works for you.

gotta love it...didnt work with raid5 or raid1...
but raid0 and raid 0+1 it does work

Looks like I'm still searching for a distro that will do raid5...

but it's still FAKEraid....I'm not going to spend $200-$300 on a sata raid card when I can use bios raid or linux raid. And SCSI drives/raid card would be way too much and overkill for what I am doing.

What sucks is that /boot can't be on a raid partition since dmraid won't be loaded till during the boot process. And If I raid5 my 4x80gb sata drives in linux I could move them to another sytem and not have to change the data or array.
