My daughters birthday was yesterday and I got her a laptop (work had some they were going to give away so I got one... P III 900, 512MB RAM, and 20GB HDD. Good enough for a 6 yr old).

I am trying to set it up with some type of menu system so she can just click and go to places like Noggin.com, PBSKids.org, Emal, etc...

Does anyone know of a "menuing" system like this?

Hey - My daughter's birthday was yesterday (5 years old here)! Grin Happy B'day to yours!

I'd be interested in something like that too. She has a full XP Pro install on her own computer, and pretty much just has the bookmarks created for her. She can get herself to each just fine, but it would be easier to make it more obvious which is which with icons and bigger text. I was thinking of just desktop shortcuts to each site with a big icon that made it clear what she was clicking (since she can't read all of it yet).

Not short cuts.

I created a web page, and put that on the desktop (from XP you can put a web page on the desktop). I have some icon's from the web pages, and you can click them. It's not the greatest, but it's working for now.

I would like to come up with something better though.

And Happy B-day to your little girl too J... didn't know they both had the same b-day. Too funny.

how about True Launch Bar? It's like quick launch on roids...you can setup menus on the taskbar to fit whatever style you like.

Use the system to display a web page as the background and design one that suits your needs. This way, she never needs to hit start!
