How good/bad is the intergrated graphics that most AMD based laptops have?

I'm considering upgrading to something from this PII lappy that I picked up to hold me over.

The most intensive things I do on mobile is look at maps and a little CAD-E stuff(2D, nothing major). 4/8mb Rage was at it's limits when I zoomed out in a utility map, hoping the 200M might run a bit smoother.

No intention of gaming on a lappy, my old desktop serves my BF1942 needs well enuff.

I saw a 17" laptop at Staples a few weekends ago for <$900. ..the larger display would be most welcome.

The ATi graphics aren't that bad at all. Until I upgraded this system to the x850XT it is what I was running.

Could even run most games, not of course any real intense ones, but simple things. I did things like Diablo II, bunch of kids games, Civilization III, to name a few.

Yeah - One of my dual core desktops has integrated ATI 200 graphics. You can't play the latest and greatest games (well, at least not very well on some) but it works.

I think some basic 2D CAD would be fine on it, although I have not tried it.

Thanks!!

I do need to pickup one of the better batteries. The unit that comes with doesn't have much life.

Any clue on what processors this thing can be upgraded with??

The 2x256mb DDR2 4200 is enuff for now.
