"Dell Inc., the world's largest personal computer maker, is expected to offer a desktop PC using a microprocessor from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. in September, a Citigroup Inc. analyst said yesterday.
Citigroup analyst Glen Yeung told Reuters that he and colleagues were basing this on information from PC component makers in Asia.
"We have analysts in Asia now who are continuing this conversation" with the component makers, Yeung said, elaborating on a research note that he wrote, which was published on yesterday.
Dell spokesman Jess Blackburn declined to comment on the note. Yeung said details of the desktop computer's configuration were unavailable.
Installing AMD chips in desktop computers would be a further step in Dell's budding relationship with AMD. For 22 years, Dell exclusively used chips from Intel Corp More at link below".....

If this is old news, then i guess im behind or just slow one of the two, but i learn something new everyday.Wonder how much this will help dell out now? or amd? |

like they have a choice at this point. Everything is going south quickly for them and cutting their Intel-only ties isn't going to bode well for pricing _________________
