Im new to the wonderful world of overclocking & indeed this board, so firstly hello everyone glad i found you, now my current problem:
I spent last weekend reading up on overclocking & although i didnt really understand what i was doing had a crack, in my bios i upped my fsb 5mhz a time (my heart was thunping everytime i rebooted) steadily my speed rose then it would boot no more so i increased my cpu's power from 1.29v im now at 1.36v & my fsb is 240, sucess
but reading the istructions i ahd found said i could lower my multipler to furter icrease speed but i dont know which option in my bios it is as there is not one labelled multiplier or anything similar
I have a DFI Lan Party UT RDX200 CF-DR, if there is anyone who has this board or know which option i am looking for your help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. _________________ CPU: AMD x2 4800

Hi, and welcome!
Should be something like a "Genie BIOS Setting" page. Mixed in with a bunch of voltage and memory settings should be your CPU frequency and multiplier adjustments.
From what I have read, you can go from your stock multiplier all the way down to 4x.
Ah i have found it, GFX0 Link width, with the following options: Auto 1x 2x 4x 8x 12x & 16x
it is currently set to auto, i set it to 10x but when i rebooted i had gone down from 2.76ghz per core total 5.52ghz to 2.30ghz per core a total of 4.6ghz, have i done something wrong as this is way slower than it was & the lower the multipler i set the lower my speed is? have i done something wrong? _________________ CPU: AMD x2 4800

Thats gonna happen if you knock the multiplier down. You have to compensate by raising the HT bus speed. Which you then have to make sure your memory divider is set right to keep your memory within working stable specs and that your HT bus is kept at near the stable 1000mhz speed with the HT bus multiplier.
hmm confusion strikes me once more, wouldnt raising the multiplier make it run faster rather tthan lowering it as speed would go up would'nt it? _________________ CPU: AMD x2 4800

I think the default multiplier for that processor would be 14x, if so, you just lowered it and caused your computer to run slower. _________________ ABAP? What did you call me?
Well im going to leave it alone for now, im up from 4.8ghz to 5.52ghz which im quite happy with for my first go. _________________ CPU: AMD x2 4800

Do you mean from a 4800 PR rating to a 5520 PR rating?
An x2 4800 actually runs at 2.4 GHz.
yeah thats what i mean dude, each cores gone up from 2.4ghz to 2.76ghz so that means 5.52ghz in total? or am i incorrect? _________________ CPU: AMD x2 4800
