Hi, i am trying to reinstall windows xp.. i have tried now with the original version with no service packs and with the one with sp2 bundled in. The install works fine, but when i go and try to update windows it just says:

Your computer's date and time appear to be out of sync with an update certificate. To fix this:
1. In Control Panel, open Date and Time Properties.
2. Ensure that the date and time are correct.

Read more about steps you can take to resolve this problem yourself. (<~~~~ is a link) so i take the link and it says:

When searching for available updates on the Update site, you see the 0x80072F8F error while looking for available updates

Register Softpub.dll
Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type regsvr32 SOFTPUB.dll.
Click OK.

I do that, it says successfull.. and then i restart the computer and it still does the same thing. I have tried both versions on another one of my older computers and it works out fine. Any ideas?

Let me know

Go to the BIOS and make sure that the BIOS date and time are correct. Would try that first. Let me know if that doesn't work. Also, are you behind a firewall?
