usb, 2 channel, mic...
my buddy y2k bug went all out and bought a 5.1 surround gaming headset...and not only is it huge and uncomfortable, it doesnt help much i didnt notice a difference...i prefer usb headphones so you can keep your speakers plugged in and just disable the headphones...on y2k's you can pull the mic out wich is a nice feature, but if you play with us on bf2 or AA voice chat is a must.

I am not sure about the USB headphones because i've never used them. Two channel is more than adequate for gaming and a mic is a necessity.

I just got Zalman 5.1 speakers and they're amazing, I'd highly recommend them. By far the most comfortable pair of headphones I've ever had on my computer, non-hassle mic connected to the wiring, and clear sound.
