My mom used to be (quit in 1999) the director of food and nutrition services at one of the main hospitals in Ocala, Florida.
I got a call from her old secretary tonight and she wanted to talk to mom.

It was about my mom's boss, the administrator. Her husband shot her in the head, then shot himself and calle d the police saying their hanger was on fire (the live at Leeward Air Ranch, it has a private runway and every house has a hanger, they're both pilots), and then proceeded to kill himself.

She's in the trauma center at the other hospital (where my aunt works), and the verdict so far is that if she lives she'll be a vegetable.

You hear about this stuff all the time, but when it happens to someone you know you pay attention.

I just can't comprehend this, I'm sick...

Sorry to hear about that Dud.. its a horrible thing to have happen. I knwo out long time neighbors moved out ot Catawba a couple years back.. soon after the move the husband sht his wife then turned teh gun on himself and blew his brains out.. she lived, adn is ok today.. but it was sad, and I remember feeling sick about it too, so I feel for ya hon, and my heart goes out to you!!!!

My first ride in a plane was on her wedding day, they were married in an old plane. Then she arranged a few years later for me to get a ride in a Pitts Special. When I was 13 or 14 she took me for a ride in her Piper Cub when they were just starting to build their house at Leeward.

My mom knew and worked with her for fifteen or twenty years..... Sad
