When I lived in Tucson there was a park with a small lake/ pond in it. One day a dog jumped into it and disappeared. A few weeks later same thing happened again. They decided to drain the pond and find out what was going on. They found 40,000 Piranha in the damn thing. They think someone let a pair go in the lake and apparently they breed like rabbits. I have no idea what they were living on before they started eating the dogs.

In the last 6 months my houshold has killed off:

1 hamster (dog)
30 feeder fish (turtle)
100's of worms (turtle)
5 pet fish (1 to turtle-they did not become friends like we thought they would)
1 Turtle - still have no idea how that one happened - just died
3 small lizards -backyard (dog)

I'm running out of Newegg white parts boxes and holes in the yard to have all these tiny funerals...

Edit: Lost the replacement hamster to "wet tail" yesterday. We as a family have decided to save the rest of the pets in the world and not get any more!!!
