Can anyone see the deeper meaning?

If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at some guys, throw one of those little baby-type pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think of how crazy war is, and while they're thinking, you can throw a real grenade.

I think I would throw two grenades instead of a pumpkin and a grenade. To my way of thinking it double my odds of being the victor especially if my enemy reads this and give the throwing a pumpkin a try.
