Actually, some of these things do work... I just received a check for $350 for participating in an iPod program... they had ran out of iPods...
and yes... the check cleared
But that one is just plainly stoopid |

Nope... just canceled all the offers that I subscribed to (REAL Rhapsody, Vonage, one of those CD clubs (only had to pay for 1 CD), vitamins, teeth bleaching kits, etc) and followed the steps necessary in order for the offers to be a trial (sending back merchandise and the sorts). You don't have any direct attachment to the company that sent me the check (other than receiving spam in my spam account ).
It's not as easy as it sounds. The moment I was filling in the offers I was regretting ever getting into this because all the hastle of receiving so much sh*t and going through the trouble of returning, canceling, and checking that stuff wasn't being charged to my CC (although it always is, but the companies were really cool about reimbursing my $). Hell, even Vonage reimbursed the $ it charged me for my calls to PR. I thought the service was free (albeit the monthly charge) for calls over there, and when I found out that they weren't I canceled immediately.
They were sending ipods, but apparently could not get any more @ that price, and if you check around, the price for a 40 GB 4th G ipod is ~$380-400, so I had to pay the difference.
As long as you keep track of everything, you're fine. There's probably some loophole that I haven't thought of, but up until now, everything's cool and I have my brand spanking new ipod. I wouldn't go through the whole thing again, but those PSP offers sound tempting |
