Hey folks I'm looking to start optimizing my W2K and WXP machines and wanted to know of any programs that you would recommend? Big Bruin pointed me to some cool system monitoring software so that's cool. What I need now is a tool that can help me speed up the system. I know there are a lot of tweaks out there but I would rather get a program that alters the reg correctly rather then me poking around in there. Thanks for any help you can offer!

I personaly do both. I have both programs I pointed you to, and use them. But, I also will go into the registry if I see a tip on something that might work for me.
The site BB pointed you to has a very good refference on the services that run on the various MS operation systems. _________________ Two wrongs don't make a right!

Do you guys know any tweaks that actually speed up the system? I have a lot of tweaking done to make it do things, and look more like I want.. but I haven't found anything that really gives any noticeable speed increase.

Some speed gains I guess... You can boost broadband speed with some registry hacks... you can boost general speed by reducing the use of resources for all the fluffy/fancy Windows stuff, you can eliminate un-needed services...
