I have seen 1/8 scale gas cars doing 80mph and that was years ago. Dont know about the new brush less motors I have not messed with it for years but if gas engines were doing 80 mph back then who knows what they are doing now. My neighbor had his gas car running down the street the other day and the thing was unbelievably fast.

I've been wanting to get a couple of good RC cars for my son and I to race. No idea where to begin with them, don't want to go to a store to look (I REALLY hate shopping in stores). Censored

Don't want to pay a large amount for two cars, but also don't want a POS that's not going to be fast, or going to fall apart. Bang Head

Recommend any good mass-market RC's?

Looking for some around $100 - $150 each Smile

Yea, yea, I'm cheap Razz

Hack you link to the Optima does not work at least not for me. Please explain how a 65mph RC car is greater than an 80-135mph gas powered car.

Hellfire like I said it has been a long time so things may have changed but I think you will need to at least double that budget to get anything close to descent. Even the best of these cars takes lots of maintenance and $$$ to keep running. You have to like fixing them as much as you do racing them. I started with a $150 kit and it did not last a month before I was spending tons more.

Ditto that. My ex-husband bought a kit and built a pretty fast gas powered car, but I swear everytime he would take it out it would break!

i have a 1/10th that i am trying to sell cause there are no tracks aroudn here...and the 65mph car is better because it is a foot long...and we have a track tor ace it at, the nitro cars dont have any tracks to race at...personally i would rather race 2 times a week than have a faster bigger car. i ahve had a nitro car and i sold it cause i ddint have the money to keep it going. and i am trying to sell my 1/10 scale rally car because i like racing my 1/18th more.

hellfire: i would reccomend that you get a traxxas car they are pre built and good for beginners..and they wont break the bank.
a good monster truck is thestampede
a good street car is the4-tec
a good stadium tuck is therustler
and their cheapest one that is cheap is thespirit

they are really big in rc but not so much in the real world...they are basically like baja trucks they they run in tracks that they setup in stadiums kinda like motocross. but they are great beginner cars because they will deliver speed a low center of gravity and a deicnet ammount of jumpability/offroad power.
