Still have that? Or after a few years in the big house for this did you have to sell it off? |

parted it out a year or so later. I raced it a few of the tracks that "Fish" from IANAG/FOC races at.
got off of 99% of the citations due to them using profanity during a stop. |

I would imagine the front end was pickin up a little, eh? I thought they were airborne rated a touch over 140!!!
With them stellar early '70's brakes, it must have taken a while to slow down too!!! |
That would be the case if it was stock. They were quite aerodynamic. They ran 170-200mph on the oval tracks of NASCAR(or whatever sanction it was then). Richard Petty used to drive the Roadrunner version of it, and he's the undisputed King of Racing.
Car was stripped and lightened. When I parted out the drive train and crushed the car, the scrap weight was 2500lbs. ...that was minus:engine, tranny, tires/wheels, brakes, batteries and gas tank.
New springs in rear, torsion bars in front. Nose was canted downward with torsion bar adjustments to act as a wedge, effectively making the whole car a spoiler.
Brakes too were changed out then or at a later date(cant remember when). Large aftermarket rotors all way around with 4 piston calipers.
I had about $10K in the engine alone. MOPAR Stage 6 aluminum heads that were ported, polished, runner matched to headers/intake and even larger valves installed. Chet Herbert big lift roller cam. MOPAR 4.15" stroker kit. Weiand tunnel ram with (2) 850cfm four barrel carbs. dual 3 or 3.5in exhaust. Block completely blueprinted. Header tubes as big around as most cars today main exhaust pipe. Of all the money I spent, I only have one receipt left of my ventures. A receipt from Automotive Engineering in Temple Terrace, FL for a pair of SuperTrap mufflers made out to Robert Preston Racing.
I've told this story a few times at AOC/FOC/IANAG a number of time over the years. I used to have some of the news paper clippings of it from the Tampa Tribune, and if I ever find them-I'll scan and post. It WAS the fastest streetlegal car in the Tampa/St. Pete area for a year or so til I parted it. I smoked a number of foreign made super cars, Rustangs, Vettes, Camaros, and muscle cars of all sorts.

Fastest I've ever done is about 125 on my old rice rocket. Bike was too lite, I had to slow down pretty quickly or I was afraid the front wheel was going to come off the ground. |
