You ever see or hear these commercials to donate cars? Whats the deal? If it is a decent car, it has to be worth selling... and if it is a POS, do they really want you to donate it? Say you do sell it, you could probably get more than you would strictly as a tax write off as a donation, and if you were charitable, you could give some/all of the money away.
These commercials have been on the radio ALOT lately... and not just cars, but boats, and RVs, too... What am I missing?

I have donated lots of my old wrecks. When you donate a car, either they sell it to the junkyard for like 50 bucks and donate that to the charity, or a mechanic donates his time to make the car better and they sell it and give the money to the charity.
Everyone invloved donates their time, towtruck driver, mechanic, place of sale etc...
They are kind of picky around here, they want it to be at least a complete car.
The write off isnt all that huge, but every bit helps.
Thats how best buy makes its money, if you read the fine print it says rebate must arrive like 2 weeks after purchase, its nuts, its not like that on all of their rebates but they ahve some pretty wacky reqirements. _________________ Ignore this^^
