Spire and I saw this stuff in action... Very cool!
Quote: | Fremont, California, February 1, 2005: Corsair Memory, Inc., a global leader in ultra-performance DDR memory modules for PC gamers and enthusiasts, again raises the bar on enthusiast memory, with an intelligent memory module that monitors and displays critical performance parameters.
Dubbed XPERT, this new technology uses an integrated microcontroller and embedded sensors to measure voltage, temperature, and frequency on the memory module. Each of these parameters, along with a user-programmable scrolling marquee can be shown on a big alphanumeric display that is part of the memory module. Corsair XPERT modules also have two rows of memory activity LED's that show real-time memory activity, similar to the popular Corsair PRO series.
The parametric display, as well as the message display, can be controlled from the WindowsT desktop using Memory Dashboard, a stand-alone application which provides the software component of this technology. Using Memory Dashboard, the user can control which parameters are displayed, for what duration, and in what order. It also allows the user to program scrolling message strings up to 69 characters long.
These modules also deliver impressive performance. The first XPERT product, TwinXP1024-3200XL, is a matched pair of 512MByte DDR DIMMs that supports X-tremely Low 2-2-2-5 latencies at PC3200 speeds.
According to Corsair VP of Applications, John Beekley, "A substantial investment of engineering and manufacturing resources was required to bring this exciting technology to fruition. Corsair is very excited about the functionality that XPERT modules bring to computer enthusiasts."
TwinXP1024-3200XL is shipping now to resellers worldwide. Further information on XPERT memory can be found at www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/xms_xpert.html |
